At Corner House Dental Practice we are proud to be one of a few 100% completely mercury-free dental practices in Colindale, North London.
Dental Amalgam contains about 50% Mercury, a substance demonstrated to be more toxic than Lead, Cadmium, or even Arsenic.
Dental amalgams contract and expand with heat and as you eat, Mercury leakage occurs throughout the lifetime of the filling. The mercury leaves the amalgam in vapor form and this is absorbed in a rate of 80% through the lungs into the arterial blood.
If you are concerned with your current amalgam fillings give us a call and we can arrange an appointment with Dr Fard to discuss replacing your amalgam fillings with a white composite filling material.
When we replace your dental amalgam we will only use disposable suction tools to make sure that the filling is removed and disposed of safely.
You’re wearing a gorgeous white wedding dress, and you’re holding a bouquet of flowers fit for a queen as you stare into your beloved’s eyes. It’s exactly how you always imagined your wedding day to be.
Then the photographer says “smile” – You panic. Scared that the space between your front two teeth or your discoloured, uneven smile will forever mar the photos of what should be the happiest day of your life – your wedding day.
At our Colindale dental practice, you can get an initial consultation with our cosmetic dentist. You really want to start cosmetic dental procedures with as much time as possible to make sure it’s done right and to give yourself time to enjoy your new smile and get used to it.
So many factors can impact the optimal outcome, including how straight the teeth are, what the condition is of the gums, and whether there are existing crowns or fillings, so it’s definitely best to discuss any proposed treatment well before the big event.
Teeth Whitening – People always want a bright, white smile, so teeth whitening is something we can offer our patients before their wedding. Corner House Dental Practice highly recommends home bleaching using Enlighten professional syringes.
Home bleaching is carried out over 5-7 days. You may get deeper whitening because you are bathing your teeth in the whitening gel for a longer time.
Wedding day tip: If you choose trays do a touch up the night before your big day. Your teeth are always the whitest the day of and the day after whitening.
Restorative Dental Work before the Wedding – White composite fillings is the first option for improving the appearance of your teeth. White composite fillings can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. Fillings can be used to close gaps in front teeth and also amalgam fillings can be replaced with Composite, it is a simple, non-invasive, and conservative procedure.
Veneers are another popular choice for brides and grooms. These thin, custom-made shells cover the front side of teeth and can be used to treat spaces between teeth and teeth that are chipped or worn, permanently stained, poorly shaped, or slightly crooked.
Crowns may be needed if porcelain veneers are not a suitable option. A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth. Crowns can restore a tooth’s shape, size and strength and/or improve its appearance. Crowns cover the visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum.
Braces before the Wedding – Braces can help straighten crooked teeth, reduce crowding or fill in spaces where teeth do not meet properly. While technology has changed the way braces look, they still don’t work overnight. Start as early as you can if you want a perfectly straight smile on your wedding day. At Corner House Dental Practice we can offer you a consultation to discuss any orthodontic treatment with Dr Fard.
Porcelain dental veneers are one of the most effective and aesthetically rewarding treatments for teeth that are chipped, stained, or even misaligned. Porcelain dental veneers are the most common procedure in smile makeovers and can also be an option for patients that are simply looking to have a gorgeous smile. Dr Fard can correct a range of dental issues with this popular treatment and achieve a natural-looking solution to common problems that can affect the appearance and function of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are known to also have astounding aesthetic results for patients who have this treatment performed.
What are porcelain veneers? – Porcelain dental veneers are thin, ceramic shells that are placed over a damaged, misaligned, or stained tooth that is showing the effects of years of coffee or wine-drinking, tobacco-use, and other issues. Treatment with porcelain dental veneers begins with an impression made from your teeth. This impression will allow porcelain veneers to be custom-made for the treated tooth, ensuring a comfortable fit. After the veneer is designed, it is colour-tinted to match the surrounding teeth and attached to the tooth with a durable cement. The damaged tooth is now concealed with a healthy-looking porcelain veneer that can last for years.
At Corner House Dental Practice, we like to pride ourselves on the 10-year guarantee that we give to all our patients with any treatment that is completed.
Dental composite veneers are made using the same type of materials that are used for cosmetic bonding and for many white fillings.
Composite veneers are applied in a single visit to our dentist in Colindale where the composite is applied to your tooth surface and polished to create the veneer surface.
Composite is not as hard-wearing in the longer term as porcelain and you can expect to require your composite veneers replacing after five or six years on average. Some high-quality porcelain veneers are clinically proven to last up to 20 years.
What are the advantages of composite veneers? – The major advantage of the composite veneer is treatment time and treatment cost. If the composite is used, the veneers can be done in one appointment. The dentist will actually make the veneer directly on the prepared tooth.
The veneer is then smoothed and polished to look like your natural teeth. Since it takes only one appointment, you can leave our practice with a brand new smile in just one appointment.
What are the disadvantages? – One of the disadvantages of composite veneers is that they are not as strong as the porcelain veneer and therefore are more prone to fracture. However, if a fracture does occur, they can be easily repaired because the same material that was used initially to make the veneer can be added in the same manner to fix it.
Another disadvantage is that the colour, although stable, is not as stable as the same porcelain veneer restoration. This means that over time the veneers may get darker or turn yellow. Eventually, this change in colour can warrant the replacement of the veneers.
Full mouth rehabilitation or full mouth restorations are terms to describe the process of restoring, rehabilitating, or replacing all of the teeth in both the lower and the upper jaw. These procedures require an advanced level of skill and coordination and often involves some of the following procedures:
At Corner House Dental Practice we like to take our responsibility to involve our patients in the treatment course to a new level.
The process starts when you meet Dr Fard to discuss your needs and to plan any proposed treatment needed. Please feel free to contact the practice to arrange a consultation.
